Abstract

Business process reengineering (BPR) has attracted many public and private organizations in Iran in recent years, convincing their directors to allocate resources to BPR to reach its amazing results. Nevertheless, it has been shown that most of these projects have either focused on some unnecessary processes or overlooked some others that are vital for those organizations' missions. This article has looked at reengineering of the national health research and innovation system of Iran as an essential system of health sector in the country. One recent study has revealed that in this system, some parts are working separately and some important others have remained unnoticed. The problem reflects current task-based approach to this system which should be replaced by a process-based approach. This study has employed a heuristic approach towards system architecture.
