Innovation Institution Mapping of Iran’s Power Industry as an Example

Abstract

The present article tries to evaluate various mapping methods in technological management and assess their objective and application utility. Then, considering the concept of sectoral innovation system, the institutional mapping of Iranian power industry is designed for the present situation and due to the existing scientific literature and identified shortcomings in this field, the institutional mapping is suggested for the favorable situation. After defining the page, the time horizon for establishing new institutions in power industry from the viewpoint of experts and managers of this industry is determined.

A study of the related literature indicates that there are four categories of mapping: Knowledge mapping, Roadmap, Data mining and Institutional mapping. Generally speaking, we can say that every kind of mapping pursues a special objective and we can; practically, select the appropriate mapping through paying attention to the existing objectives, conditions and facilities. The present article, as a forerunner in studying innovation systems in Iran and with the aim of taking advantage of sectoral studies, has selected the innovation system in power industry and has used the institutional mapping for the purpose of the study
